Read About Small Pet Birds

Small pet birds are good starter pets for young families because they are sweet, mild tempered and easier to watch than a new kitten or puppy.

Small pet birds are good starter birds

Small pet birds are good starter birds because they are easy to maintain, but are also more interactive than a pet fish. Small pet birds like human attention and many of them will learn to speak if given the chance. However, they’re also content to sit in their cages and watch the activity around them.

Unlike a cat or a dog, small pet birds don’t need constant human interaction. They do like to be around activity so if you put them in a room that sees a lot of action, they’ll be content. Small pet birds also live in cages, which means that they’re easier to maintain than a cat or dog that is left to roam freely about the house.

Because they’re mild mannered and don’t require oodles of care, small pet birds are great for small children. They teach children how to take care of and nurture a pet. Children also find small pet birds entertaining because they can talk and will do tricks if they’re given toys.

Types of small pet birds

There are many different kinds of small pet birds. One of the most popular small pet birds is the budgie parakeet. These little guys are only a couple of inches tall, they’re colorful and they can be taught to talk. Budgie parakeets are part of the parrot family, but they’re not as big or as high maintenance as other members of that family.

Budgie parakeets are great small pet birds for families that want to engage their pet. Though these birds are okay if left in a cage (as long as you give them attention through the cage) they’re affectionate and like to hang out.

Finches are another type of small pet birds. These birds are much less interactive than budgie parakeets, which is good for families that don’t want to spend too much time with their birds. Finches actually dislike human contact and are happier when humans leave them alone.

However, that means if you choose to purchase and raise these small birds, you should get more than one. Just because they don’t like human contact doesn’t mean that they like to be all by themselves. These small birds need attention from their own kind and will be happier and healthier if they have at least one more bird to play with.
