Blue Pit Bull is the name given to Blue Staffordshire Bull. It is said that pirate Paul John brought Blue Paul Terrier (now extinct) from abroad and due to the fighting instincts the breed sought favor for pit sport. English migrants brought Blue Paul Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier to USA in mid 19th century. Breeding between these two gave rise to rare Blue Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Due to inbreeding blue color developed in pit bulls also, known as Blue Pit Bull or Blue American Pit Bull
