The Cesky Terrier has an agile, robust body. They are small, solid, and well-muscled dogs.

Usually blue-gray, possibly with some other markings. There is also a light coffee coat coloration, but this is fairly rare.

Popularity:
Recent reports place number of Cesky Terriers in the US at over 150; they are not common dogs.
Habitat:
Cesky Terriers do well nearly anywhere -- they are well-mannered, and do well in a yard or on a leash.

Historical Information:
A relatively new breed, the Cesky Terrier was developed in the 1960's to be good-natured vermin hunters and companion animals. It is thought that they are a mixture of predominantly Scottish and Sealyham Terriers. They first appeared in the US in the late 1980's.

Habits:
Cesky Terriers are definitely house dogs. They are sensitive and eager to please, as well.

The breed is generally healthy. The only real issue is a slight tendency towards obesity.

These dogs need to run and play, but their exercise needs are not disproportionate.
Grooming Needs:
Cesky Terriers need to be brushed or combed a couple of times a week, and clipped every 6-8 weeks.
Travel Needs:
Small dogs with pleasant natures, the breed is a good
traveling dog.

Cesky Terriers are excellent with other pets (especially dogs) and children.
What to Look for in a Healthy Puppy:
Clear eyes, sleek coats, and tons of energy. Cesky Terriers are born black or chocolate brown, and lighten as they mature -- this can take up to three years.

An appropriate crate, door gates and backyard dog fencing will keep him safe. Lots of toys and room to run will keep him happy.
