4. Historical Information:
These dogs were once used for bull baiting in Britain until dog fighting was banned in 1835. Once known for their ferociousness and aggression this breed was then carefully bred to eliminate the vicious traits. Today's bulldog is a peaceful and docile creature.

Medium. They are attentive but the owner may need to deal with a firm hand sometimes.

English Bulldogs are friendly, gentle and courageous. They love to be with humans and make excellent guard dogs. They go to any length to ensure the well-being of their masters including attacking any person who may mean harm.

They are extremely good with children.

They can be dominating sometimes, but can be easily controlled.

1. Health Issues:
Breathing problems, eye disorders, skin problems are common issues. They cannot tolerate extreme temperatures.

They are prone to obesity. Do not overfeed them.
3. Exercise Needs:
Though some adult bulldogs may not prefer it, exercise does much good for them.
4. Grooming Needs:
The coat is easily brushed with short firm bristle brush. The folds of the facial skin must be wiped often.

Always have a bowl of water readily available.

As these creatures cannot tolerate extreme temperatures, handy water flask and water pan is always a must. Also carry sheets on cold days.
