Read About White Siberian Huskies

White Siberian Huskies are a striking dog breed because of the color of their coat. However, with a white coat they are often mistaken for Samoyed dogs. Many people are under the misconception that all Siberian Huskies have blue eyes, but this is not the case. The eye color could also be brown, amber or a combination of the three colors, which gives rise to the term "part-eyed". "Bi-eyed" Siberians have one blue eye and one brown eye.

Due to the thickness of their coats, White Siberian Huskies are well able to withstand unusually cold temperatures. When you have one of these dogs as a pet, you will find that although it is gentle and playful, it can also be mischievous and strong-willed. Although the name Husky conjures up ideas of a mean dog, these dogs are gentle and great as a family pet. They are not good watchdogs because of their friendly nature.

When you bring home one of these puppies, you will have to have lots of patience when house training. Although they are very smart and as a rule easy to train, they do have a mind of their own. Once a puppy pees in a certain spot, he will want to keep going back there. This is why you should always confine it to a small area, unless you want to be cleaning up dog urine in your living room. Keep the puppy in a small area with lost of newspapers around the floor. Pretty soon he will associate doing his potty with going to the newspaper, but as the puppy grows, you will have to train it to go outside.

Enrolling White Siberian Huskies in obedience training is a good idea. Here, both you and your pet will learn the various commands to use to get the dog to behave the way you want him to. Dogs are like children and they have to be taught how to behave and to follow your rules. You don't need to be harsh or to hit the dog because positive reinforcement with lots of praise and dog treats work wonders.

White Siberian Huskies love company and get bored very easily if left alone for long periods of time. If you work all day, it is a good idea to keep the puppy in its crate until you return. When a puppy is bored it can get into all kinds of trouble and be very destructive when you leave it alone in the house. They are really good with other pets, especially if you raise them together.

Although these dogs are not suited for living in an apartment, with the proper training you and your White Siberian Husky can get along well in a small space. These dogs do need a lot of exercise, so if you don't have a house with a high fence around the backyard, you need to be prepared to take long walks. If you do keep the White Siberian Huskies in the back yard make sure you bury the wire underground because they have been known to dig their way out and wander off.
