Read About Ivy's Story

To know a dog is to love a dog. Here is my story. I never wanted a dog. My husband and I had two cats and that was fine by me. One day My husband, Shawn, came home and said that a friend of his took in a puppy that was on it's way to the pound. It seems that the prior owners wanted a lap dog and Ivy, at 4 months old, was about 25lbs already. They gave her to my husband's friend, but he couldn't keep her. So every day Shawn came home and said can we take in this puppy. Each day I said, "No."

About a week after Shawn first started asking about bringing Ivy to our house, he came home WITH IVY! She was bigger than I expected a puppy to be at that 25lb mark, but so cute. She is a Border Collie and just an active little puppy. Of course I was kind of mad, but really she was just adorable. I actually made Shawn sign a handwritten contract that he would bathe her, brush her, pooper scoop and feed her. He did sign it . . . he really wanted to have a dog.

Now 8 years later Ivy is the princess of our home. We have since had 7 "new" dogs come in and out of our lives. Two left us to go the the Rainbow Bridge where we will see them again someday. The others are with us making our lives seem fuller and our hearts more open to change. Our house is never spotless, they sleep on the furniture and they basically rule the roast! But we love them. Without Shawn having found Ivy, we would not have known any of them. For that we are forever grateful. Oh yes, and I have, of course, become a dog lover!
