There are various kinds of dog
show events. They can be classified broadly into the mega dog shows sanctioned by AKC and other smaller dog shows events managed by other clubs. 
The AKC dog shows are what the breeders and dog lovers use as the bench mark for judging and breeding purebred dogs. There are other kinds of dog shows like dog dancing events, dog
obedience events managed by other clubs. Lots of individual breed and class dog show events are organized around the US. Location:
Dog shows are organized at places where there is enough parking area and rings to handle many dogs. Some the top dog shows of the country like the Purina Dog show is held at Purina Farms in Philadelphia. This is an 11 acre area where over 4,000 dogs participate every year on Thanksgiving Day. The Westminster Show in New York is held in Madison Square Garden in New York. History:
The American Kennel Club was established in 1839. Since then its been organizing dogs shows around the country. Other clubs like the Dog ">Fanciers Association of Oregon along with Tualatin Kennel Club work for organizing the Rose City Classic Dog show every year. Then there are clubs like Portland Dog Obedience Club focusing on dog

Dog show events are sanctioned by the club hosting the event like the Rarities Show is sanctioned by Rarities & North American Kennel Club of America. 
The famous Purina Dog Show is sanctioned by Kennel Club of Philadelphia. Entrance Procedure:
Dog show events have well formatted entrance procedures that can be checked online or forms are available at the club hosting the dog show event. For dogs to participate in AKC dog shows the dogs have to be registered with the AKC. Classes:
The classes vary in all Dog show events. AKC dog show events have seven classes and over 150 dog breeds which compete for the
Best in Show award. While other dog show events could be class specific or breed specific eg. Mastiff dog show is breed specific and Hound dog show has all breeds in the hound category. Judging:
