Food that meets specific dietary and nutritional needs of finches.
Things to Consider:
Use More Than Seed – While seed is a good foundation for your finch´s diet, you should try putting lettuce leafs, sliced grapes, and pieces of hard boiled eggs on the floor of the cage. They´re excellent nutritional supplements and are well liked by most finches.
Avoid Excess Dark Greens – You need to be careful not to feed too many dark greens, such as spinach, dandelion, and kale, to your finch, as they can actually reduce the amount of calcium in your finch´s body.
Live Food – Though live food isn´t a necessary part of a finch´s diet, it is enjoyed by some birds. If you choose to add a live food, such as mealworms to your bird´s diet, you need to keep in mind that the mealworm´s diet affects your bird´s diet. You should do some research about feeding mealworms and make sure the mealworms will, in fact, be a healthy addition to your bird´s food.
