Read About Choosing Heat and Full Spectrum Cage Lights

A full spectrum light simulates sunlight and helps to promote the health and well-being of your pet.

Things to Consider:

  • Type of Light – If purchasing a full spectrum light, you need to take into consideration the fact that some lights are coated with a film to achieve "full spectrum" light. This results in a very low light output and may not be as effective as other lights.

  • Safe Distance – A full spectrum light needs to be located at least 32" from your bird´s favorite perch and left on for between 3 and 11 hours each day.

  • Heat Lamp for Illnesses – Typically, a heat lamp is only necessary if you notice that your bird is beginning to act ill. A heat lamp will help your pet conserve energy until you can get him to the vet.
