Read About Choosing Cat Shampoos

Some professionals in the medical field believe that humans are sensitive to the proteins in feline saliva. Bathing your cat at least once a week will help rid her coat of proteins and other allergens.

Things to Consider:

  • Water Temperature – When bathing your cat, you should remember that a cat´s normal temperature is higher than a human´s. So, the water should feel "too warm" to you in order to be "just right" for your kitty.

  • Safety – You need to choose a flat surface to bathe your cat, and/or add a rubber mat or towel, so he won´t slip. This will help your kitty feel more secure and help him to not panic.

  • Start Slowly – If your cat is not used to being bathed, you can get him used to the idea by literally getting his feet wet. In whatever you´re using to bathe him, you can fill it up just enough to cover his feet, set him in the water, get his feet wet, and immediately take him out and dry his feet. After you do this a couple of times, you can gradually start increasing the depth of the water.
