Read About Choosing Flea-Tick for Puppies

Flea and tick treatments for puppies are different than the ones you would purchase for adult dogs.

Things to consider: Overall health maintenance treatments, products made specifically for puppies, and complete flea and tick control activities.

  • Healthy Puppies - Flea and tick control is not the only area of dog health care maintenance products you will need to get from the store for new puppies. You will also want to bring home heartworm preventative and a dog first aid kit for new puppies as well.

  • For Puppies Only - Puppies cannot use flea and tick control products made for adult dogs. They are too strong, and can irritate the dog's skin, or worse, make her seriously ill. Instead, go to the store for new puppies and pick up flea and tick control products geared specifically for younger dogs.

  • Complete Control - Remember that you do not only need to take care of a flea and tick problem on your dog itself, but also on her bedding and on your carpets. So when you are picking up flea collars and spot-ons at the store for new puppies, get your flea and tick powders and sprays for your carpets, furniture, clothing, and bedding there, too. You don't want to risk harming your puppy's sensitive system in the process of killing and/or preventing infestations of the dog flea and tick.
