Nursing puppies that have just been removed from their mothers have some special needs that you will need to fulfill.
Things to consider: Weaning puppies, milk replacement products, and help for an older dog's medical conditions.
Milk & Bottle - Nursing puppies can help protect them against a slew of harmful bacteria. If your new puppy has only just been taken from it's mother, then before you start him on regular puppy food (called "weaning"), consider getting from the store for new puppies a nursing bottle and some milk replacement, in either powder or liquid form. The antibodies this gives your new pup can steel him against sickness and disease for his whole life.
Leave Her Alone - If your female dog has recently given birth, she may be more reactive and unpredictable than usual. To be on the safe side, avoid interrupting her whenever she is nursing puppies.
Treating Illness - If your adult dog has been suffering from a medical condition that causes them to lose interest in eating their regular food, consider heading to the store for new puppies and picking up some milk replacement to feed them, the same kind that's used for nursing puppies.
