There are several products available to make the process of castrating and dehorning quick and simple, which both you and your livestock will appreciate.
Things to Consider:
Antibodies – Before you castrate or dehorn your livestock, it is advised that a CD/T vaccine be administered, which helps stimulate the production of antibodies to guard against tetanus.
Bands – If you are not comfortable castrating your cattle with a knife, consider using a banding system. Results are usually seen within 20-40 days, and will be very accurate.
Dehorning – To prevent accidents from occurring, it is better to have a helping hand or some sort of restraint established to steady the animal's head when dehorning.
