Pregnant cows need extra special care and attention to maintain optimal health before giving birth.
Things to Consider:
Extra Nutrients – Towards the end of a cow's pregnancy, the calf grows at a significantly high rate. The cow will need a lot of nutrients to help support this rapid growth, and still have strength to give birth. There are a number of supplements available to help with this.
Preparation –Have all of your calving supplies and other necessary items ready to go well in advance so that you are prepared for the birth at any time.
Feeding – If you plan to feed calves on your own after they are born, have all your bottles and food ready to go. Be sure to properly sanitize the nipples before and after each use.
