Take your time – If you are an experienced shearer, it can take you 5 minutes to do the job; however, for most people, it can take up to an hour. Shearing sheep takes a lot of patience and concentration. The skin under a fleece is very tender and can cut easily. Use caution and if you are unsure, hire a professional and learn their techniques.
Have a couple pairs –It never hurts to have more than one pair of sheep shears around the farm. If you have a lot of sheep to groom, you can get split up the job with someone else.
