Things to Consider:
Warning Signs -- Oftentimes, a horse that is chewing on wood, while arching his neck and swallowing air, are signs of cribbing and will be an indicator for you to take action.
Muzzles -- Muzzles can keep your horse from chewing and swallowing, thus discouraging cribbing behaviors.
Loss of Appetite -- If you don't catch your horse chewing or swallowing, yet you suspect cribbing, lack of eating can also be an indicator. Swallowing large amounts of air will make the horse's stomach feel full.
