The appropriate bedding and litter for your pet reptile is an important part of emulating your pet's natural habitat. Purchase the product that satisfies your reptile's needs.

Things to consider:

  • Aspen Bedding – Aspen Bedding is a substrate used for corn snakes, king snakes and fat-tailed geckos. Aspen Bedding is non-toxic and made of 100% natural Aspen shavings. This product is ideal as bedding or litter for small reptiles; and help eliminate odors, bacteria, yeast and mold.

  • Bark Substrate – The most common bark substrate is coconut bark. This bark absorbs moisture and odor and works well in high humidity conditions. This bark is recommended to be used with reptiles such as chameleons, iguanas, snakes and lizards.

  • Lizard Litter – If you have a desert-dwelling reptile, Lizard Litter is an ideal substrate for your reptile pet. Lizard Litter is easy to clean and is non-toxic. It will not harm your reptile if ingested. Lizard Litter is not as abrasive as sand or bark.

  • Repti-Sand & Vita Sand – For most desert reptiles, Repti-Sand is an ideal substrate. It contains no dyes or chemicals and comes in natural colors to closely resemble your reptile's habitat. This substrate will stimulate natural burrowing and digging behaviors in your reptile and is a great egg-laying medium. It will also conduct heat needed by your reptile. A substrate suitable for reptiles such as desert tortoise, geckos or bearded dragons is Vita Sand. It does not contain fat-soluble vitamins, which are harmful if ingested in large amounts. It is dye and chemical free. The fine grade of this substrate helps prevent impaction when consumed by your pet reptile.

  • Specialty Moss – Specialty moss does well in high humidity conditions. Moss should contain natural sphagnum. Specialty moss is ideal for frogs, toads, salamanders, snakes and other reptiles that dwell in moss. Specialty moss is a great incubation and egg-laying medium. This is often used as a lining for your reptile's containment unit and water bowls.
